In general, the consumption of cement products decreased slightly compared to July but still maintained a stable growth momentum compared to the same period of 2017. In the domestic market, the consumption of cement products decreased by 0.25 million. tons compared to the previous month but still increased about 3% over the same period in 2017.
Meanwhile, in the export market, cement production in August, although consumption decreased by 0.09 million tons compared to July, increased by 44% over the same period in 2017.
Accumulating 8 months, total cement consumption reached about 63.85 million tons, up 30% over the same period and reaching nearly 76% of the year plan. In which, domestic consumption is estimated at 43.76 million tons and export is 20.09 million tons, exceeding the export plan target of 18-19 million tons in 2018.
According to a preliminary report from the General Department of Customs, in the first 7 months of 2018, the total export value of the cement industry reached 656.3 million USD, up 73.4% in turnover over the same period in 2017.
Export prices of cement and clinker averaged $37.2/ton, up 6.3% compared to 2017. In which, the Philippines, China and Bangladesh are the three main export markets of Vietnam’s cement and clinker. with total export value to 3 markets reaching 471 million USD.
